3 Things to Know: 2019 Honda Passport
June 28 2019, Portland Street Honda
Just in case the Honda Pilot was a little too big for you, but you really liked the capabilities and design of it, Honda’s got you covered. That’s right, the all-new 2019 Honda Passport is essentially a shorter version of the already popular Honda Pilot. Like a crossover that’s hit the gym a little more often, the Passport is all sorts of rugged and practical, while also offering up the standard Honda driving dynamics you’ve come to know and love from the Japanese automaker.
3 – The Passport uses the Pilot Platform
We already touched on this above, but it is important to know that the Passport really is just a shorter version of the Pilot. It shares the same Global Light Truck Platform as the Pilot and the Ridgeline. Despite that, there are differences: the 2019 Honda Passport is only a two-row design and not three, and while it’s 6.2” shorter it actually has a 0.8” higher ride height over the Pilot.
2 – Regardless of trim level you get the same engine
And that’s not a bad thing at all since the 2019 Honda Passport comes equipped with the same 3.5L V6 engine found in the Honda Pilot (see a theme here?). The engine produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a greatly improved 9-speed automatic transmission. As is the case with the engine, there is also no choice for powertrain options and AWD is the only way you can order our new Honda Passport in Canada. And that’s not a bad thing either as it brings the Honda Passport into all-year-capable territory.
1 – It looks great and fits the bill
If the Honda CR-V and HR-V were just a touch too small and not quite powerful enough, but the Pilot was just too large for you, well, the all-new 2019 Honda Passport might just be the perfect compromise for you and your weekend adventures. Ready to explore both the urban and wild treks you take it on, the 2019 Honda Passport really is the best of both worlds.
